Cattle in the West Barn are bedded with corn stalk bales with pens being cleaned by loader. Manure is stockpiled and spread on neighboring fields. The East Barn and below ground manure pits. A commercial operator is contracted to agitate the pits, pump wastewater up to 3 miles via above ground tubing and apply via a knife applicator that puts nutrients below the ground surface in the corn root zone. The manure is sold to neighbors and has great demand.

The cattle feeding improvements are presently used to finish beef cattle but would work equally well as a dairy heifer development facility.

Markets There are 3 large ethanol plants within 30 miles of the property and 4 more within 60 miles. These plants provide distiller grains Ddgs and corn gluten for the feedlot.

There are major beef packing plants in nearby Omaha, Norfolk, Madison, Fremont, Lincoln, South Sioux City, and Dakota City.
